Public Works Supervisor

The City of Hanover is seeking a Public Works Supervisor to lead maintenance of our streets, parks, facilities and equipment.  In a small-town setting, this is a hands-on leadership role that combines fieldwork, staff supervision, budgeting and community interaction.  Responsibilities of the position include the supervision and coordination of snow and ice removal, street repairs, parks and grounds maintenance, stormwater infrastructure, vehicle and equipment maintenance and facilities maintenance. This position will supervise the department including work direction to two full-time and two seasonal employees.  Minimum qualifications include High School Diploma or GED, 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in public works or municipal operations, a valid MN Class B Commercial Driver’s License, availability for on-call work as needed, and ability to respond to emergency calls within 20 minutes.  Preferred qualifications include supervisory experience and Class A License.  The 2026 wage range for this position is $37.60/hr to $50.40/hr DOQ, exempt with excellent full-time employee benefits.

Seasonal Parks/Public Works Maintenance

The City of Hanover is accepting applications for two Summer Seasonal Parks/Public Works workers.  These seasonal workers would mainly be responsible for general upkeep of the parks and trails system.  They would also assist in other areas including road and pond maintenance.  Typical work week is 6:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Thursday and 6:30 am to 10:30 am on Friday.  Start date for the seasonal positions may be flexible as needed.  Wage range for this season is $17-19/hr depending on qualifications and experience.

Must be 16 years or older with a valid MN Driver’s License, have a good driving record and enjoy working outdoors mostly independently.  Experience with lawn maintenance/groundskeeping equipment is a plus.
