Storm Water Utility Information

The City of Hanover manages a storm water utility within the City.  The City's storm water utility funds maintenance and improvements to the City's storm water infrastructure which helps to comply with State requirements for managing storm water flows and filtration, providing for cleaner water in the environment and preventing some flooding that might occur with improperly managed systems.  Fees collected through the storm water utility can only be used to fund storm water utility projects.

Eligible costs include:

  • Operating Costs
    • Street sweeping
    • Inspections/Maintenance
    • Planning, Public Education, & State Permits
  • Equipment Costs
  • Capital Costs
    • Replacement of storm sewer systems, possibly eliminating the need for assessments
  • Storm Water Studies and Programs
