Contest Rules:

• Participants must be a resident of the City of Hanover or work within Hanover City limits.
• All photos must be taken in Hanover.  Entries from all seasons are encouraged!  Please provide the date and location each photo was taken.
• Photos must be original work, not heavily altered or edited, or created with AI.
• Photos that include logos, watermarks or copyrights are not accepted.
• Black and white, and color photographs are both welcome.  Pictures should be .jpg file and be at least 1 MB in size.
• One they are submitted, photographs/images become the property of the City of Hanover who has all rights for usage.  Residents who submitted contest entries also retain the rights to use their photos as they wish.
• The submission window officially closes at 11:59 PM on July 11, 2025. 
• If there are identifiable people in the photograph, and it was taken in a non-public space, it is the responsibility of the photographer to obtain permission to use the photograph.

• Any images deemed to be inappropriate, in violation of the rules above, or offensive will be removed.

• Photos can be submitted using the fillable form on the right side of this page and emailed along with photos .
• Photos can be submitted via email to cityhall@ci.hanover.mn.us
• If submissions are limited by file size, please contact City Hall to arrange an alternative submission method.

 

How to Vote for Your Favorite Photos:

How to Vote for the Winners of the Hanover Photo Contest

• After Boards, Commissions and Council select finalists, these photos will be posted on the City of Hanover Facebook page for residents to "vote" on. The photos with the most “likes” will earn First, Second and Third Place. 1 Like = 1 Vote.
• Winners will be announced at a Hanover City Council meeting, on the City’s website and social media after voting ends.

Prizes:

• Gift certificates to local businesses (provided by the Hanover Economic Development Authority) and City of Hanover tumblers
• Winning photos will be recognized at a Hanover City Council meeting, showcased at Hanover City Hall, featured on the City’s website, Facebook page and a City newsletter.

 

Additional Info:

Photos submitted may be used on our websites as well as in area-wide media such as the City newsletter, social media, residents’ guide and other materials.
