Planning & Development Coordinator - NEW

Come grow with us!  The City of Hanover has added a new position to support land use activity, zoning inquiries and other development activities of our small-town community of about 4,300 and growing.  The new Planning & Development Coordinator will be a key contact for homeowners, contractors, realtors, appraisers and others with zoning questions and ideas for their properties.  This person will work with our experienced City Administrator, consulting planner and consulting engineer to support all areas of city planning, zoning, land use inquiries, code education/enforcement, stormwater compliance and other customer service.  If you are a community development and/or urban planning professional looking for a supportive environment where you can put your skills to good use in service to the community, this could be the job for you. The successful candidate will have a Bachelors degree in community development, urban planning, geography or related area; or currently enrolled in program with ability to complete degree within six months.  Five (5) years of directly related work experience may substitute for a Bachelors degree.  Preferred qualifications include local government, GIS and electronic records management systems experience, as well as experience with service delivery through website tools.  This position qualifies as Grade 5 on the City’s wage scale with a 2025 wage range of $33.48 to $41.17/hr, non-exempt with excellent full-time employee benefits.  A summary of the benefits package available for full-time employees is available linked at the bottom of this page.
