RefuseSolid waste is collected through an open collection system in which up to six companies can apply for a solid waste collection license from the City and be approved by Council. All companies collecting solid waste/refuse in the City must collect on Thursdays between the hours of 7:00am and 6:00pm.The current licensees are:

RecyclingThe City contracts with Republic Services to provide residential recycling services. The cost of recycling is paid through a combination of property tax dollars, revenue sharing and SCORE grants. The City provides new residents with a 65 gallon wheeled cart at no cost. Additional size carts are available. To order a cart, please call Repubic Services at 952-941-5174. Residents will need to tell them that the City of Hanover pays for the recycling.Recyclables are collected every-other week. The City is split into two zones.
